Dr. Daytheon Sturges has been a PA for almost two decades and in PA education for 10+ years and has served in the roles of clinical coordinator, founding Academic Director, associate program director, and now Program Director at the University of Washington School of Medicine – MEDEX Northwest PA Program. Dr. Sturges is a family medicine PA-C at University of Washington Primary Care – Northgate in Seattle, Washington. At the University of Washington School of Medicine, he is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine.

Dr. Sturges received his BS in biology from Louisiana Tech University, his BS in Physician Assistant and Master of PA Studies from LSU Health – Shreveport, and his Ph.D. in health studies (community health promotion and health education) with a focus on higher education from Texas Woman’s University, where he also completed a post-master’s certificate in health informatics. 

Dr. Sturges’s academic and research interests include the intersection of medicine and health justice; the influence of stress and coping on health outcomes; burnout in PA education; health promotion and education; and the role of determinants of health in clinical decision-making. He is a recipient of the PA Education Association’s Rising Star Award and was awarded the Diversity Award by the American Academy of Physician Associates. Dr. Sturges currently serves as a nationally elected Director-at-Large on the PA Education Association Board of Directors. At MEDEX, Dr. Sturges is active in the delivery of instructional material and administration. Outside of work, he is active in the community most notably through his professional organizations and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Academic medicine is Daytheon’s vocation and his calling.
