Ashley has spent the last 17 years serving her community with an unwavering commitment to bridge-building, advocacy, and normalizing conversations around behavioral health, wellness, and belonging. She currently serves on the Bainbridge Island City Council and is its former Mayor. Her lived experiences contribute greatly to the care and love with which she approaches her service. Ashley is a proud member of WA-CELI’s inaugural cohort. The Washington Collaborative Elected Leaders Institute (WA-CELI) is an innovative program that provides local elected officials with collaborative leadership skills. Launched in 2024 by the William D. Ruckelshaus Center and the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, WA-CELI serves as a pilot program to reduce polarization and enhance civic engagement.

She is originally from Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in the Catskill mountains. Before being a council member, Ashley served as Planning Commission Chair and on the Boards of Treehouse for Kids and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Kitsap Public Health District Board, Kitsap County Regional Coordinating Council’s Executive Committee, Puget Sound Regional Council’s Growth Management Policy Board, and as an alternate on its Executive Board. Ashley is a lifetime member of the NAACP, a member of Treehouse for Kids’ Emeritus Board, and lives on Bainbridge Island with her family, where she is a member of the island’s vibrant equestrian community and an avid yarn dyer and knitter.
