Auditory and Visual Screening Guidance for School Districts During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The State Board of Health (Board) has authority to set standards for the auditory and visual screening of children attending schools in Washington. The purpose of the requirement is to screen for and identify students who may be experiencing auditory or visual impairments and refer for care by an appropriate healthcare provider. The guidance outlines the importance of keeping students, staff, and their families safe and healthy, particularly during these extraordinary times. The document gives guidance for school districts regarding the requirements for the auditory and vision screening of students during the pandemic for the 2020-21 school year only. Read the full guidance document and contact the State Board of Health if you have questions about the rule.
