The State Board of Health (Board) has contracted with Karen Sutherland of Ogden Murphy Wallace P.L.L.C. to conduct a preliminary investigation into complaints it received against Spokane Regional Health District administrator, Amelia Clark. Complaints focus on the termination of Dr. Bob Lutz, local health officer, and allege the administrator failed to act in accordance with RCW 70.05.050.
Ms. Sutherland has completed her preliminary investigation, including review of recently acquired records and additional interviews. She will present her findings to the Board at the June 1 Special Meeting. Materials, including a copy of the preliminary investigation are available on the meeting web page.
The Board voted at its November 9 meeting to proceed with the preliminary investigation. During the discussion, Board members determined the information in the complaints fall within its authority. Board members agreed that an independent investigator will conduct the investigation.
