Governor Inslee Appoints Patty Hayes to State Board of Health

Tumwater, WA – February 16, 2022 – Governor Jay Inslee appointed Patty Hayes, former Director of Public Health—Seattle & King County, to the Washington State Board of Health. Hayes fills the position of a person experienced in matters of Health and Sanitation and is currently retired.

 

Member Hayes’ has worked in public health for 30 years, recently retiring from service in 2021 from Public Health – Seattle & King County. Her previous positions include Executive Director of WithinReach, Assistant Secretary for the State Department of Health’s 's Community Family Health Division, and Director of DOH's Policy Legislative and Constituent Relations Office. Patty received her undergraduate and master's degree from the University of Washington (UW) School of Nursing. Patty has received numerous awards including being inducted into the Washington Nursing Hall of Fame in 2002; the UW Alumna Summa Laude Dignata Award in 2020; and the MLK Medal of Distinguished Service in 2021 from the King County Council.

Her recent experience leading the pandemic response for her community, and commitment to equity will help the Board meaningfully engage the public and its partners in our work ahead.”

 

Member Hayes is expected to join the next online Board meeting, March 9. A draft agenda for the meeting will be disseminated Feb 23.
