Keeping of Animals Rule Open for Formal Public Comment

The Washington State Board of Health (Board) is accepting formal public comment on the Keeping of Animals rule. Written comments are accepted until May 2. A rules hearing is scheduled at the Board’s June 8 public meeting where you can give verbal testimony.

Rule Information

The Board filed a proposed Keeping of Animals rule that includes a title change to Domestic Animal Waste. The proposed rule includes standards for the handling and disposal of animal excreta, or animal waste, for the purpose of preventing and controlling nuisance and health hazards. The proposed rule language, small business economic impact statement, and significant analysis are available on the Board’s rule web page. Instructions on how to give written and verbal comments and attend the June 8 business meeting are also available online.
