October and November Meeting Highlights

Here’s a quick summary of actions taken by the Board, and presentations from our public health partners to the Board, from our October and November meetings. You can find all meeting materials on our website. Quick links are provided to the presentations.

Board members took the following actions:

  • In October, the Board approved the adoption of an emergency rule to ban the sale of flavored vapor products, including THC vapor products. In November, the Board approved the adoption of the emergency rule to prohibit the sale of vapor products that contain vitamin E acetate, adding a new section to the emergency rule.
  • In October, the Board approved the proposed implementation plan for the revised Tdap vaccine requirement that begins in the 20-21 school year.
  • In November, Board members took two actions on rulemaking. First, the Board approved the recommendation to revise the Drinking Water Laboratory Certification rule. Secondly, the Board denied a petition for rulemaking to amend the Rabies-Measures to Prevent Human Disease rule.

Public Health Presentations to the Board:

The next Board of Health meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the State Department of Health, Town Center 2 East, in rooms 166/167 in Tumwater. The proposed final agenda and draft minutes from our Nov. 18 meeting will be disseminated and available on our website on January 2, 2020. Meeting materials will be posted to our website on Friday, January 3 by 5:00 p.m.
