Prenatal Tests Rule: Accepting Verbal Comments at June 9 Rules Hearing

Washington’s prenatal tests for congenital and heritable disorders rule sets forth screening and diagnostic tests as standards of medical necessity for use certain insurers, health care service contractors, and health maintenance organizations when authorizing requests for claims, without the requirement for a case by case determination.

We filed a proposed rule (supplemental CR-102 document) and continuing the rules hearing from January 13, 2021 to give interested parties’ additional time to review and comment on the proposed rule. The supplemental CR-102 document announces to the public that a rule is being proposed and includes the proposed rule language. The supplemental proposal clarifies requirements for pre- and post-procedure genetic counseling, amends requirements for coverage of certain prenatal genetic tests, and makes additional administrative changes and clarifications. The written comment period is now closed. You may give verbal comments during the scheduled rules hearing. Attend the online rules hearing open to the public on June 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. to give your verbal testimony on the proposed rule:
