Public Notice: Draft Rules and Public Workshops for PFAS Drinking Water Standard

The State Board of Health accepted a petition rulemaking in 2017 and filed a preproposal statement of inquiry, to explore issues and to consider setting drinking water standards for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Group A Public Water Supplies. The rulemaking also includes related work on the use of state advisory levels (SALs)—renamed state action levels in the draft rules—for PFAS and other unregulated drinking water contaminants. In November 2019, the Washington Department of Health updated the Board on the rulemaking project and released informal draft rules for public review and comment. The draft rules, supporting documents, and the schedule of public workshops in early December are available on the Department’s rulemaking web page. Information about the rule is available on the Board's rulemaking web page and on the Nov. 18 meeting materials web page
