Board Adopts Updates to Handling of Human Remains Rule

The Board adopted the proposed amendments to the Handling of Human Remains rule as published in WSR 20-19-144 and directed staff to file a CR-103 and establish an effective date during its November 9 public virtual meeting. The Handling of Human Remains rule governs the handling of human remains against certain preventable diseases. We filed a CR-102, Proposed Rule, for Sections 010-050 of Chapter 246-500 WAC on September 23, 2020. The CR-102 means we are proposing updating the rule regarding: 1) Final disposition of human remains through alkaline hydrolysis, 2) Final disposition of human remains through natural organic reduction, and, 3) Other updates to the rule as needed.

More rule information is available on the Handling of Human Remains rule web page, and meeting materials are on November 9 web page.
